An Empirical Examination of Ubiquitous Business Adoption and Strategy
Abstract
Ubiquitous computing is changing daily life by providing the flexibility necessary to communicate with anyone, at any time, and from anywhere. Business with ubiquitous computing (U-Business) has emerged as a new business paradigm and become reality. U-business is simply defined as practical application of ubiquitous computing technologies to business arena. This paper introduces the notion of U-Business as new paradigm in business and examines the current status of U-business industry and the implementation strategies used by U-business firms using a survey method. In summary, we conclude that different U-business contexts have different perspectives on the outcomes of U-business implementation. The technological foundations of U-business are crucial to improving companies’ U-business performance and competitive challenges within the context of global U-business. However, new business opportunities, innovative work processes, and creative business teams are important objectives for implementing U-business in order to achieve competitive advantages.
